Transport

Formula’s capability and expertise in the transport of dangerous goods.

Formula Chemicals has been in operation since 1973 under the control of the Smart family. We specialize in the sale and delivery of a wide range of chlor alkali products over the whole of NSW. We service areas such as Albury, Wagga, Cowra, Bathurst, Orange and as far west as Cobar; and as far north as Taree. All these areas are serviced by our modern fleet of Hino trucks.

  • Our Company philosophy has always been to directly service our NSW Customers with our own trucks as the products we transport are all classified as Dangerous Goods under the relevant legislation. We do not use sub-contractors as you don’t have direct control over their actions and therefore compliance with all the appropriate Regulations.
  • All our fleet are modern Hino trucks the oldest truck being 3 years old. We replace all the trucks on a 3 year lease basis. The trucks are customised with bunded trays and under floor containment tanks to prevent any spills from entering the environment. They incorporate special deflection panels on the side gates to divert any leaks into the bund.
  • All the trucks are fitted with Smarttrack; a satellite tracking/navigation system so that we can determine their whereabouts anywhere in Australia at any time.
  • They are also registered with DECC (Department Environment Climate Change) to transport all classes of Dangerous Goods except for explosives in Bulk, i.e. that is quantities over 3000L/kg.
  • Formula Chemicals fleet is registered with the RTA and are included in their Clean Fleet Program. We also hold accreditaions with NHVAS (mass, BFM & maintenance) as well as Truck Safe. Formula Chemicals is a member of the Australian Trucking Association, with Leigh Smart Formula Chemicals Director sitting on the Board as the small fleet representative.
  • Through Formula Chemicals commitment to safety our fleet and business have compliance with the Truck Safe Programs safety and business management, covering the standards of management, Maintenance, workplace Health & safety & training.
  • Formula Chemicals fleet has accreditation to the NHVS (National Heavy Vehicle Scheme) and are accredited operators and proud to label our trucks accordingly.
  • All trucks are covered by NTI Insurance with a limit of Indemnity of $32,500,000.00 (non-hazardous) and $10,000,000.00 (hazardous) cover.
  • Each truck is fitted with its own on-board mag drive pump with the capability of pumping all classes of Dangerous Goods.
  • We have a portable 3000L/4500kg stainless steel tank which can handle loads up to this cut off point and otherwise we can add multiples of 1000L IBC’s to bring up our maximum capability up to 10,000kg.
  • All our drivers are fully trained and have completed the following:
  • 1) RTA Heavy Vehicle Licence
  • 2) EPA Dangerous Goods Licence to carry Bulk Dangerous Goods.
  • 3) BlueCard
  • 4) Fatigue Management
  • 5) TAFE Certificate II in Transport & Logistics
  • 6) Truck Safe Program
  • 7) National Heavy Vehicle Accredited Scheme
  • As well as our normal in house training program which is a requirement of our ISO Accredited Quality Management System.
  • Formula was the first Speciality Chemical Manufacturing Company to receive ISO Accreditation and received our Certification on the 11th December 1992. We now have had over 20 years continuous Certification. Our QEC number is 1627.
  • As part of our Quality Management system we have to log our on time delivery status and at present we are running at 97%.
  • Our System, as you would be aware includes Job Descriptions, Work Instructions etc and these also include Authority to Discharge documentation for all the drivers and all our drivers have vast experience in handling bulk deliveries.
  • We do bulk deliveries for some of the largest chemical companies in Australia.
  • With vast industry experience and a commitment to professionalism, Formula Chemicals looks forward to continuing to contribute to the chemical industry, through the safe carriage of dangerous goods.
