Leigh Smart
Director
Leigh is a Graduate of Hawkesbury Agricultural College and started his career at Dairy Farmers Co-op in Canberra and was responsible for Laboratories in Goulburn and Albury. He worked for Bega Co-op Ltd and was Quality Manager for Peters Milk Pty Ltd. Leigh has vast experience in servicing the food and beverage industries. Qualified auditor and trainer for ISO9001:2008.
In 1995 Leigh was appointed to Standards Australia Committees FT/9 and FT/025; Dairy detergents and Sanitizers and Detergents and Sanitizers for Food Industry. Leigh has had 15 years experience as an accredited Consultant with WorkCover NSW to design and stamp plans for Class 8 and Class 5 Dangerous Goods Stores.
In 1999 received recognition as a Senior Food Safety Auditor by QSA and was appointed on their Certification Panel.
In 2008 was a member of WorkCover Smart Move Program improving manual tasks in the transport industry. For a period of 3 years Leigh was a Mentor in the WorkCover “Safe Business is Good Business” program. Leigh was the Chair of the WorkCover Chemical Industry Stakeholders Group.
In 2014 Leigh sponsors the ATA Truck Week 2014 event; one of the best promotional displays in Australia.
In 2015 was elected to the Australian Trucking Associations Council as a Small Fleet Representative. Leigh convened the first meeting of the Dangerous Goods Subcommittee of Road Freight NSW and is the Chair. He continues to fund all these meetings and functions.
Leigh was a Finalist in ATA’s “Outstanding Contribution to National Trucking Industry” and in 2016 was a Finalist in Road Freight NSW “Outstanding Contribution to NSW Trucking Industry”. Leigh was appointed as Ambassador for Truck Week 2016 at the ITTS and again held the most successful Truck Week event Australia wide.
More recently has been a finalist in 2017: Finalist ATA ‘Most outstanding contribution to Australian Trucking Industry’.
In 2018 the Winner of RFNSW ‘Most outstanding contribution to NSW Trucking Industry’ and in 2019 the Winner of ATA ‘Most outstanding contribution to Australian Trucking Industry’.In

Kimberlie Smart

Kimberlie has made a significant contribution to the business within many sectors including Administration Management, Accounts Payable, Account Management, Marketing, Quality Systems and Production scheduling.

Kimberlie and Leigh were finalists in the Australian Road Safety Awards in Melbourne for the 2017 Community Program Award 2017 and the 2017 School Programs Award.

In 2017 Kimberlie was a finalist in ‘Women in Industry Awards’ in two categories namely ‘Excellence in Manufacturing’ and ‘Safety Advocacy Award’.
In 2018, Kimberlie was a finalist in ‘NSW Transport Woman of the year’ at the annual RFNSW Conference 2018.

Kim is one of the daughters of Leigh Smart who has driven innovation and helped steer the strategic direction of the family business.
Simone Willoughby
Office Administrator
Employed by Formula Chemicals since 2000 Simone excels in various areas of office
administration. She manages payroll, handles customer service inquiries, and oversees the dispatch and receiving of goods efficiently. Her versatility and effectiveness are clear assets to the Formula Chemicals Team.

Simone is one of the daughters of Leigh Smart who has played a pivotal role in the family business.

Graham Thompson
Human Resources & Compliance Manager
Graham Thompson joined Formula Chemicals in 2022. Graham is a key component part of the Management Team and implementing safe working practices within our Organisation. He organises and educates staff member in all aspects of Health and Safety and any training they may undertake including Forklifts, Confined Spaces, First Aid and NHVAS BFM, Mass and Maintenance.

Graham implements the Formula Chemicals (NSW) Pty Ltd Policy and Procedure Handbook and provides Performance Management and support to all members of the team. Graham assists in all internal and external audits including SAI 9001:2015 & 14001:2015, NHVAS, TRUCKSAFE, CLEAN FLEET & customer/supplier audits.
Skippy Lipano

Transport Allocators
Skippy Lipano joined the team in October 2019 as a forklift driver in the front yard. Skippy career development progressed with his joining the transport department in August 2020 as a transport allocator and Production Supervisor. Skippy is an integral part of the team and implementing safe working practices within our Organisation. Skippy has completed his scheduler training, dangerous Goods License and Fatigue Management training with Kell’s Training in the last 18 months. Skippy has acquired his Heavy Rigid Vehicle license.

Lemisio Leaaailfano joined the team in October December 2018 as a member of our production team in the Hydrochloric Acid Plant. Lemisio completed his forklift license in April 2019. Lemisio’s became a member of the fork yard team in late 2019 and completed his Dangerous Goods Awareness and Load Restraint training.Lemisio’s career development progressed with his joining the transport department in August 2020 as a transport allocator and Production Supervisor. Lemisio is an integral part of the team and implementing safe working practices within our Organisation. Lemisio has completed his scheduler training, dangerous Goods License and Fatigue Management training with Kell’s Training in the last 18 months.

Paul Sila is the youngest member of our Transport team and he has completed his Dangerous Goods Awareness and Load Restraint training and Paul has also acquired his Heavy Rigid Vehicle license.
Shane McLoughlin
Production Manager
Shane McLoughlin joined Formula Chemicals in 2016 as a valued member of our chlor alkali production team. Continuing on Shane’s career development in 2017, Shane was promoted to Production Manager overseeing day to day duties include Production Scheduling and Planning and liaising with our major accounts. Shane is responsible for the toll blending of our major accounts including BP, Castrol and ED Oates.

Shane measures stock control continuously and oversees the Quality of manufacturing and is responsible for a number of the colleagues within his department ensuring they are compiling with all regulations in relation to working on a Dangerous Goods site and educating on the new regulations with regard to Chain of Responsibility.

Shane is an integral part of the Management Team and implementing safe working practices within our Organisation.

Shane has completed his Diploma in Leadership and Management at the Australian Pacific College.
Michael Hall
Equipment Development & Maintenance Manager
Joined the team in 2012 Michael brings a wealth of knowledge from his background in Electrical Engineering.
Michael has designed and implemented our filling equipment, solar panels, LED lighting, while developing custom solutions for our clients.
